October - November 2006:Proposed a common portal for IDP camps and IDP returnee sites in northern Uganda (Gulu, Kitgum, Pader) The portal is intended for use by NGOs such as ACF, ARC, AVSI, CCF, NRC, War Child, and some UN offices (OCHA, UNICEF, WFP) in iddition to UNHCR and other UN organisations. see the page on activities with google interface

August 2006: installation of a Geographic Information System for management of urban refugees in Cairo, Egypt. Mapping refugee areas and the services available to facilitate their integration (UNHCR)

February 2006: deployment of TMJava web mapping application to support repatriation of liberian refugees in Sierra Leone. The application works from USBdrive or CD-ROM, so as not to depend on an internet connection. (UNHCR)

September 2005 - April 2006: deployment of GISand remote sensing for assistance from UNHCR and partners in Chadrefugee camps. Development of standards and methodologies. Provision of training to make the programmes sustainable.

October-November 2005: Evaluation of data flows and data management within UNHCR and its partners in Democratic republicof Congo. Standard Excel forms were created which were easy to use.(UNHCR)
