Contract type : CDD or consultancy
Start date : As soon as possible and depending on the availability of the successful candidate. The contract offered will depend on the candidate's country of residence: a 12 month fixed-term contract. for a resident in France, a consultant contract for a candidate residing outside France.
Location : The role is open to candidates worldwide, provided they have a stable internet connection and reside in a time zone compatible with our operations (± 2 hours from Paris time). For international candidates, the role is 100% remote (“home-based”). For residents in France, there is a choice between 100% remote working or working from our head office in Chambéry with occasional remote working (up to 3 days).
Salary : For a standard French employment contract based on the pay scale and experience, with a 39-hour working week (35 hours plus 4 hours of paid overtime per week). For consultancy work, rates are subject to negotiation. (see more)

The missions
The activities of the GIS Officer are as follows, but not exhaustive:
1. Needs analysis
Collect, analyse and qualify the needs of CartONG’s partners, exchanging with the various stakeholders to understand the expected uses, specify the specifications of the deliverables and define relevant, realistic solutions adapted to the operational context.
2. Cartographic production
Collect, clean, control and structure data to ensure quality, traceability and reusability, applying the principles of responsible data management and standards in force (bills of materials, metadata, formats, security), then produce static and interactive maps that meet the needs of partners’ analysis, communication and project monitoring.
3. Capitalization, quality and continuous improvement
Contribute to the continuous improvement of CartONG’s GIS and mapping practices by applying and developing production procedures, models and standards, ensuring a technological watch on developments in the sector, producing and updating technical and methodological documentation (guides, procedures, tutorials, training), and participating in the dissemination of good technical practices, methodological and ethical approaches to partners and teams.
4. Support for CartONG’s associative life
Participate in activities supporting CartONG’s associative mission and contribute to the events, workshops and collective work times organized.

Profile required
Education
Bac+5 training in geomatics, geography or equivalent.
Previous experience
1 to 3 years of experience in geomatics.
Experience in the international solidarity sector would be a real plus.
Language skills
Excellent level of written and oral skills in French and English.
Technical skills
- Expert on ESRI: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (ExperienceBuilder, Dashboard…).
- Skills in automation (model builder, python).
- Database management skills: FME, Enterprise GDB, PostgreSQL.
- Mastery of data management tools used in the sector (Power BI, Kobo…).
- Mastery of QGIS would be a plus as well as knowledge of participatory mapping.
Cross-disciplinary skills:
- Demonstrate autonomy.
- Be proactive and rigorous.
- Strong interest in new technologies and technical bug fixes.
- Ability to work in a team and very good interpersonal skills.
- Have an interest in the humanitarian sector.
