"Maps from here & abroad" aims to foster the social inclusion of the migrant population in France through two main kinds of activities: participatory mapping on OSM during mapathons, and sensitive mapping workshops, meaning the freehand drawing of maps based on the affect one has for a space. The objective of this initiative is to offer these activities to the residents of emergency accommodation centers or CADA, everywhere in France in order to raise awareness about digital cartography, but also on an artistic and creative form of mapping. The project is currently in its third phase.

OpenStreetMap, the Wikipedia of maps, is a powerful tool to support local development and improve community resilience in case of crisis.

These one day seminars organised twice a year correspond to a community of practises composed of medium-sized NGOs that meet to exchange on information management practises, tools and methodologies. 13 NGOs are part of this community at this date.

CartONG set up and has been managing since 2015 a community of Terre des hommes users on data collection and analysis, using Slack as a tool.

CartONG has deployed numerous times to Terre des hommes delegations to give trainings and help with the general capacity building of national and international staff in the field on information management, mobile data collection and geographical information systems.

A total of 8 regional CartONG trainings have been organized between 2015 and 2017, with a total of 74 participants and 23 countries trained on MDC throughout Tdh’s main intervention zones, with a number also trained on Information Management more widely.
