Organized by CartONG every two years since 2008 in Chambéry, the GeOnG forum gathers humanitarian actors and professionals specialized in information management, including geographic and cartographic information. It is dedicated to discussions, sharing experiences and learning about innovative solutions.
Thanks to all the participants to the conference! The videos from the session are available via the Agenda page.

The GeOnG is the biggest independent forum on this field in Europe. It has gradually become a major event on issues related to cartography, mobile technology, information management and more generally on the uses of new technologies in the humanitarian and development sectors.
The GeOnG is composed of a combination of lectures and roundtables to discuss current issues in the sector, workshops enabling participants to get training in the use of new tools, and sessions enabling project initiators to present their ideas.
After editions tackling the role of these tools in decision-making processes (2008), new data collection technologies (2010), cloud-computing-related challenges (2012), and operational data analysis (2014), CartONG has decided to focus this fifth one on the theme "Impact of humanitarian IM: Lessons from the past, shaping the future".
As we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of CartONG in 2016, we wish to discuss the impact of all the new tools that we have helped introduce in the humanitarian sector (GIS, GPS, mobile-related solutions, satellite images, drones…). Do they really provide added value to our partners in the field? How can we capitalize on lessons learnt these past few years to better our use of the technology?
This year, it will take place on October 17th to 19th at the Manège (Chambéry's convention center), for the first time over three days. The last two editions gave us the opportunity to make the event more professional (increase in the number of participants, sponsors and budget, international exposure). The fifth edition coinciding with CartONG's 10th anniversary, the association is planning for an even bigger event, which includes festive moments.
