CartONG joins the PARCIT project alongside Acting for Life.
CartONG is pleased to announce the launch of a new partnership with Acting for Life (AFL) as part of the PARCIT project (Support Project for Community Resilience and Intercommunity Cohesion in Cross-Border Territories). Funded by the European Union, this 42-month programme (2025-2029) aims to strengthen community resilience and intercommunity cohesion in the cross-border areas of Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso.
PARCIT addresses key challenges affecting these territories, including agro-pastoral dynamics, food and nutrition security, cross-border mobility and trade, as well as local economic development and social cohesion.
A New Partnership Supporting Cross-Border Territories
Through this collaboration, CartONG will bring its expertise in information management, mapping and data analysis to support Acting for Life and its local partners. The objective is to strengthen the production, analysis and use of territorial data in order to improve decision-making and support the long-term management of activities carried out by the various stakeholders involved in the project.
This partnership is fully aligned with CartONG’s mission: helping international solidarity organizations and local actors make better use of both geographic and non-geographic data to increase the impact of their work.
CartONG’s Role in the PARCIT Project
As part of PARCIT, CartONG has been selected to provide technical support for the management, analysis and use of territorial data.
This support will be delivered through a progressive four-step approach:
1. Assessing Existing Information Systems
The first phase will focus on assessing current practices, tools and stakeholder needs. Through interviews, participatory workshops and a document review, CartONG will analyze data collection, management and use processes in order to identify existing strengths and opportunities for improvement.
2. Designing Tools Tailored to Local Stakeholders’ Needs
Based on this assessment, CartONG will support the design and implementation of an appropriate technical architecture. This may include database structuring, improvements to data collection tools, and the development of visualization solutions such as dynamic maps and interactive dashboards for the project’s intervention areas.
3. Strengthening Local Stakeholders’ Capacities
Two training sessions are also planned to enable partner teams to sustainably adopt the tools developed and strengthen their skills in information management and data analysis.
4. Producing Strategic Recommendations
Finally, CartONG will formulate recommendations aimed at improving the coherence, efficiency and sustainability of the information systems put in place, while promoting better use of data for planning and managing development activities.
At the heart of this intervention lies a strong conviction: reliable, accessible and effectively utilized data are essential tools for understanding territorial dynamics and developing responses that are tailored to the needs of local populations.
By building on existing systems and placing users at the center of the process, CartONG will contribute to sustainably strengthening the capacities of the stakeholders involved in PARCIT.
