In October 2021, CartONG engaged in its first ever partnership with the Crisis and Support Center (CDCS) of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) regarding an initiative focused on the promotion of responsible data and data protection applied to humanitarian actors and settings over the November 2021 to October 2023 period.
Following our previous disaster risk reduction project, we had hoped for several years to re-launch a large-scale collaboration with the OpenStreetMap Madagascar (OSM-MG) community, which we have been supporting since its early days. The opportunity arose through a partnership with Secours Islamique France (SIF), in the framework of the Avotia project, co-financed by the French Development Agency.
In April 2019, the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German development agency, started implementing a new initiative called “Technology Based Adaptation to Climate Change in Rural areas of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan”. This project, which is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aims at strengthening adaptation measures to climate change in both countries.
Following the publication of its associative project in June 2019, CartONG began a reflection process to develop its first multi-year strategy. After a year and a half of hard work, the latter was validated in June 2021. Discover the ins and outs of our first strategy in this new article!
In May 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading worldwide, UNICEF Mexico launched the first activation of the 3-year Long Term Agreement signed with UNICEF Headquarters, CartONG and MapAction in late 2019, for the creation of a dashboard in support of the Mexican Ministry of Education. In September 2021, CartONG started an 18-month project to develop its volunteering offer thanks to a co-funding from the Fonjep, which has been mandated by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Find out more in this article!
In 2020, CartONG supported Plan International Germany in the development of a mapping platform to identify basic services and causal peace factors in the Lake Chad Basin. A unique mapping project built around the empowerment of local young people.
CartONG is proud to announce the launch of the IM Resource Portal. This new portal, hosted by ALNAP, aims to provide easy access to a wide range of practical and strategic resources - in French and in English - on the topic of Information Management produced by and for aid organisations.
